KCBS: Plaintiffs in Prop 8 Trial Expected to Rest Case Today

In the latest testimony to come out of the Proposition 8 Gay Marriage trial, a subpoenaed witness told the court he believed the legalization of gay marriage would lead to increases in incest, polygamy, and sex with children.

Dr. William Tam of San Francisco, one of the five original authors of Proposition 8, testified as a hostile witness for the plaintiffs, as they neared the end of their witness list.

Plaintiffs’ attorney David Boies, who subpoenaed Tam, was able to get Tam to discuss how he campaigned for Prop 8 and why he pursued it.

Tam admitted to the court that he believes homosexuals are 12 times more likely to molest children, and that allowing gay marriage would put California in Satan’s hands, leading to incest, polygamy and pedophilia.

“What he was putting out was some of the worst examples of attacks on homosexuals that you can imagine,” said Boies. “His assertion that gays molested children 12 times as much as heterosexuals is directly contrary to all of the science and all of the studies.”
