The bipartisan legal team that successfully argued California’s Proposition 8 case at the U.S. Supreme Court is now taking its fight to Virginia, taking on the state’s 2006 constitutional amendment prohibiting same-sex marriage.

At the center of the case is a gay couple from Norfolk that has filed a civil suit in federal court against Gov. Bob McDonnell, Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli, State Registrar of Vital Records Janet M. Rainey and Norfolk Circuit Court Clerk George E. Schaefer because they were denied a marriage license.
